Talk about a monster of a Grenache. Curt Schalchlin, the winemaker, is a master of Rhone varietals. The 2009 “Pickpocket” is one of my favourites. The wine is full of body and structure. Coming from the Central Coast of California, this wine has all the fruit without overpowering your palette. The subtle nuanced oak in the finish helps to elongate the finish, so long in fact that rarely do you stop tasting this beauty because you are already onto your next sip.
A must try for Grenache lovers. For those not familiar with the varietal, its time to try it!
It’s well worth the $40.
